The Science

Real ingredients. Backed by nature and science

We don’t just brew great coffee. We build it with purpose. Every ingredient is selected to support energy, focus, recovery, and resilience so you can get more out of your day. Here’s what powers Innerbloom.

What's actually in your product and why it matters.

Specialty Coffee

Our signature cold brew starts with real specialty coffee sourced for flavour, quality, and consistency. No powders, no concentrates. Specialty coffee is naturally rich in caffeine and antioxidants which enhance alertness, support mood, and help physical performance. Cold brewing keeps it smooth, lower in acidity, and easier on the gut while preserving the polyphenols that make coffee so good for you.

Adaptogens

We use a blend of functional mushrooms including Lions Mane Reishi and Cordyceps. Each plays a role in helping your mind and body handle the demands of a busy life. Lions Mane supports cognitive function and mental clarity. Reishi helps calm the nervous system and supports resilience during stressful periods. Cordyceps is known for boosting natural energy and supporting endurance by improving how the body uses oxygen. Together they help you feel sharper calmer and more balanced throughout the day.

Milk Protein Isolate

Every can includes high quality milk protein isolate which is naturally lower in lactose and provides a higher protein content with fewer calories. It supports recovery keeps you fuller for longer and provides essential amino acids for active bodies. Clean efficient protein without the heaviness.

Natures Superfoods

Our blends include creamy coconut milk powder and rich cacao. Coconut milk powder adds a smooth texture along with healthy fats that support clean energy and metabolism. Cacao delivers flavonoids magnesium and theobromine which support mood cognitive function and overall wellbeing. They round out the flavour while giving your body something real to work with.

From green bean to your fridge

Green beans

Before roasting, coffee is a raw green bean. At this stage the flavour compounds, antioxidants, and caffeine are locked in. The quality of the green bean determines the ceiling of everything that follows. We source only beans that score 80+ on the Specialty Coffee Association scale.

Roasting

Roasting unlocks the flavour. Heat transforms the green bean into the dark, aromatic coffee you recognise. We roast to a profile that preserves the natural sweetness and complexity of the bean without burning out the flavour. No dark roast masking cheap beans. No shortcuts.

Brewing

Brewed fresh and properly, not reconstituted from concentrate or extract. The difference shows up in the cup. Cleaner taste, more consistent caffeine, no chemical aftertaste that gives most RTD coffees away.

The Protein

Not all protein is created equal. Here's why what's in Innerbloom is different.

Protein Type

Ultra Filtered Skim Milk

Ultra filtered skim milk protein retains both whey and casein in their natural ratio, meaning you get a faster and slower digesting protein working together. The result is better satiety and a smoother release of amino acids over time.

The Amount

Why 15g?

15g is the sweet spot for a functional morning drink. Enough to meaningfully contribute to your daily protein target, support muscle maintenance, and keep you full through the morning without tipping into meal replacement territory. It works as breakfast on its own or alongside one.

Time of Day

Why it matters in the morning

Most people are protein deficient at breakfast without knowing it. Toast, cereal, a banana, even a standard café coffee, none of these move the needle on protein. Starting your day with 15g sets your hunger, energy, and focus up in a way that a carbohydrate heavy breakfast simply doesn't.

The adaptogens

Most functional products sprinkle in trace amounts of adaptogens to put them on the label. We don't. Here's what each one does.

Brain Fuel

Lions Mane

Lions Mane is the most researched functional mushroom for cognitive performance. It works by stimulating nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein responsible for the growth and maintenance of brain cells. Regular supplementation has been shown to improve focus, memory recall, and processing speed. It doesn't give you a hit like caffeine. It builds over time, and that's the point.

Immunity Unlocked

Reishi Mushroom

Reishi works on your stress response at a hormonal level. It regulates cortisol, the primary stress hormone, helping your body stay calm under pressure without sedating you. Research also points to its role in supporting deeper, more restorative sleep and immune function. The adaptogen that works hardest when life is working hardest against you.

Heart Health

Cordyceps Mushroom

Cordyceps improves the way your body produces and uses energy at a cellular level. It increases ATP production and improves oxygen utilisation, the same two mechanisms that endurance athletes have used it for decades to improve performance. The result for everyone else is sustained physical and mental energy without stimulants or a crash on the other side.

Creatine Monohydrate is the most researched supplement in the world.

How it works

Creatine works by replenishing phosphocreatine stores in your cells. Phosphocreatine is what your body uses to rapidly regenerate ATP, the primary energy currency your muscles and brain run on. More phosphocreatine means more available energy when it counts, whether that's a heavy set, a long run, or a demanding day at work.

The physical benefits

The evidence on physical performance is comprehensive. Regular creatine supplementation increases power output, improves strength over time, and accelerates recovery by reducing muscle cell damage and inflammation post exercise. The key word is regular. Creatine works through consistent daily loading, not occasional use.

The cognitive benefits

This is where it gets interesting. The brain is one of the most energy demanding organs in the body and it runs on ATP just like your muscles do. Research shows that creatine supplementation improves working memory, reduces mental fatigue, and helps maintain cognitive performance under stress and sleep deprivation.

Why 3.5g

3.5g sits within the clinically studied range for both physical and cognitive benefit. It is enough to meaningfully load phosphocreatine stores with daily use without requiring a separate loading phase. Consistent daily intake at this dose is what the research supports.

Why in a creamer

Because consistency is everything with creatine and most people fail at consistency. Remembering a separate supplement, measuring a powder, mixing a shake. It adds friction and friction kills habits. Putting 3.5g into the thing you already add to your morning coffee removes every barrier. You build the habit without thinking about it.

FAQ's

What makes Innerbloom different from a regular protein shake?

Innerbloom is built around your existing morning routine, not an extra step added to it. Real specialty coffee, clean functional ingredients, and nothing you don't need. No artificial flavours, no unnecessary fillers.

Where does the protein come from?

Our protein coffee uses ultra-filtered skim milk powder -- a dairy-derived protein that's low in lactose, high in bioavailability, and easy to digest. Each RTD can delivers 15g of protein per serve.

Is the coffee real?

Yes. We use real specialty coffee, not coffee flavouring. You're getting actual caffeine from actual coffee, not a synthetic substitute.

How much caffeine is in each can?

Between 95mg - 112mg of caffeine depending on the product.

Are your products suitable for everyday use?

Yes. Everything is formulated for daily consistency, not occasional use. The whole philosophy is building habits that stick -- protein in the morning, creatine in your creamer, functional ingredients that compound over time.

What is creatine monohydrate and why does it matter?

Creatine monohydrate is one of the most researched performance supplements in existence. It supports strength, power output, muscle retention, and increasingly the evidence points to cognitive benefits too. 3-5g daily is the effective dose. Our creatine creamer delivers 3.5g per serve.

Do I need to be an athlete to benefit from these products?

No. Protein supports muscle maintenance and satiety for anyone -- not just people training hard. Creatine has shown benefits for cognitive function and healthy ageing, not just gym performance. These products are designed for busy people who want to function better, not just perform better.

Are your products gluten free, soy free, and dairy free?

The creamers are dairy free, soy free, and gluten free. The protein coffee RTDs contain dairy protein (ultra-filtered skim milk powder). Always check the label if you have specific allergen requirements.

Are your products free from artificial sweeteners?

Yes. We use monk fruit as our sweetener -- a natural, low-glycaemic option with no artificial aftertaste.

Where are your products made?

Innerbloom is a New Zealand brand. Our products are manufactured in New Zealand using quality-controlled ingredients.
